How Our Dental Hygienist & Teeth Cleaning Appointments Work
Our oral hygiene appointments are divided into initial, short and long appointments.
Initial Hygiene Appointments
After your initial consultation, you may require an Initial Hygiene Appointment.
This will allow our hygienist to get to know you better and suggest an oral hygiene routine that will suit you.
They will inform you about your gum health and if you have a gum condition they will explain any other factors which may affect or be linked to this gum condition.
They will help you make a personalised plan to improve and then maintain good, stable gum health.
Short Hygiene Appointment
Our Short Hygiene Appointment is recommended to patients who have few risk factors for gum conditions and understand their own personal oral hygiene needs. It allows the Hygienist to continually screen for gum conditions and carry out any professional teeth cleaning, scaling or polishing required to keep your teeth looking their best.
Long Hygiene Appointment
Our Long Hygiene Appointment is recommended to patients who have more risk factors for gum conditions. These patients may require special attention to maintain good, stable gum health. It allows the Hygienist to monitor the stability of gum conditions and carry out any teeth cleaning including scaling or polishing required to help combat and prevent the progress of gum disease.
The recommended appointment length you require will be discussed with you by both your hygienist and your dentist. Appointment frequency will also be discussed and will be based on risk factors for gum conditions.
In more severe cases of gum disease, it may be necessary for the hygienist to carry out more frequent gum treatment and perhaps more specialised treatments sometimes in conjunction with a periodontal specialist (a dentist with a special interest in gum disease).
Booking an appointment with your local Wakefield Dental Hygienist has never been easier! Simply give us a call on 01924 255 554 or book online now to secure a time that works for you.
